Committees

University committees are backbone of University’s governance. They play a crucial role in decision making and administration. To ensure the smooth functioning of the University, committee’s decision always remains significant. They are used for consultation and communication, in internal and external affairs of University. List of various committees at SPU are:

Academic Committee:

Academic Committee of SPU plays a crucial role to ensure the smooth academic atmosphere at the campus. From student’s admission, setting up curriculum, to student’s satisfaction; they maintain stimulating intellect atmosphere at University campus. The duties and responsibilities of academic committee of SPU are:

  • Implementing the academic schedule strictly.
  • Foster the academic performance of students and curbing the menace of ragging.
  • Identifying the talented students, and encourage them to participate in different higher academic examination like IIT JAM, National Graduate Physics Examination etc.
  • Promoting social activities like music and dance.

Arts & Cultural Committee:

Art and cultural committee of SPU encourage students to participate in different art and cultural festivals, both socially and professionally.The duties and responsibilities of art & cultural committee of SPU are:

  • To ensure the smooth conduct of cultural festivals.
  • Planning, scheduling and preparing annual budget for the various cultural events in the academic year.
  • To obtain formal permission for cultural events from the college authorities.
  • To invite the chief guest.
  • To arrange the venue and logistic.

Sports Committee:

The Sports Committee of Sikkim Professional University provides opportunity for students to play and participate in various indoor and outdoor games. The objective is to bring out the passion and develop a sense of team spirit and competitiveness. The duties and responsibilities of sport committee of SPU are:

  • Creating a zeal in students and faculty members toward sports.
  • Enhancing the sport infrastructure of the University.
  • Give attention in indoor and outdoor sports equally.
  • Enhancing the interest of participant in the field of sport.

Student Affairs Committee:

The objective of students affairs committee of SPU is to promote a safe and supportive learning environment, thereby students can get academic success, growth and personal development. The duties and responsibilities of students affairs committee of SPU are:

  • Maintaining excellent learning atmosphere at the University campus.
  • Monitoring University’s assessment, satisfaction of student and career outcome.
  • Maintaining proper financial resources to support a comprehensive student affairs program.
  • Conducting an annual self-evaluation of the performance of the Committee, and effectiveness and compliance with this charter.

Placement Committee:

The placement committee of Sikkim Professional University monitor and take responsibility of campus placement activities. The committee consist of Chairman, Corporate Relation officer, member of placement committee and group of faculty members who works collaboratively and invites companies for campus recruitment. The duties and responsibilities of placement committee of SPU are:

  • Registration of eligible and interested candidates.
  • Arranging class room for group discussion, interview and aptitude test.
  • Continuously contacting with companies for campus placement.
  • Preparing students for campus placement interview.
