Sikkim Professional University earlier named as Vinayaka Missions Sikkim University was established in the year 2008 by an Act (No.11of 2008) of State Assembly passed by Government of Sikkim and now it has been renamed as Sikkim Professional University as per Vinayaka Missions Sikkim University Amendment Act, 2020 (Act No. 09 of 2020).

Sikkim Professional University is a destination of quality higher education that aim to produce highly capable and intellectual graduates those who can easily compete in today’s corporate world. Career After Nursing Courses

The primary job of the nurse is to provide care and medical aid to the needy. After nursing courses students can find plenty of good employment opportunities inprivate nursing homes, privateand corporate hospitals.Nowadays nursing homes and private hospitals are mushrooming across the country in such scenario there is high demand of professional nurses.

Nurses can also choose administrative and teaching profession in medical colleges and nursing schools. Apart from the numerous opportunities in domestic sectors, students can also seek employment in the Indian Red Cross Society, Indian Nursing Council, State Nursing Councils and various other nursing institutions.

Student who wants to get international exposure, they can do Master of Social Work (MSW) and find decent opportunities in European countries. After B. Sc. Nursing candidate can apply for the post of staff nurse in central government hospitals. Central government hospitals recruit nurses, on the basis of performance in written and interview test.

List of Programmes Offered Under SPU College of Nursing – Admission Open

1. General Nursing and Midwifery or GNM – General Nursing

Duration – 3 Years

Eligibility – 10+2 with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in Arts/Commerce/Science subject. Age limit (17-27)

2. B.Sc (Nursing)

Duration – 4 Years

Eligibility – 10+2 with minimum of 50% marks in PCB/PCM along with English. Candidates will have to individually pass all the subjects. Age limit (17-25)

3. P.B.B.Sc – Post Basic B.Sc Nursing

Duration: 2 Years

Eligibility: GNM with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate
